• Advice from Home Educators

"Take time to deschool and research different learning styles like unschooling, Charlotte Mason and Steiner. (You are required to provide a suitable education from the first day of home ed, however, it doesn't have to resemble school at home, deschooling yourself, getting the restrictions of school out of your mind is an important part of the home ed journey.)"

Please note: Educational Freedom takes no responsibility for the accuracy of the information listed about each childminder.
We recommend caution and common sense when choosing a childminder.
Please do your own research and checks before employing a minder.

A childminder can not be legally responsible for providing home education for your child, however, it is acceptable for them to oversee 'homework'.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Eirian Taylor, I’m 28 years old and I am a registered as a childminder in Tayport, Fife. I am fully qualified and regularly inspected by the Care Inspectorate.

I have a HNC in Early Education and Childcare and experience of working in nurseries and schools. I also keep regularly up-to-date with courses and have recently completed a Paediatric first aid course and a food hygiene course.

I live on my own in a flat with a dedicated play room (please see photos on my website) and I have a full clean UK driving license with my own transport. I can pick up and drop off children to Tayport Primary School (this is only a 10 minute walk from where I live) and Tayport nurseries.

I aim to provide children with a safe, caring, warm and stimulating home from home environment where they can play and learn. They will receive individual attention, whilst also enjoying interaction with children of various ages. I like to spend time out of the house when possible, visiting play parks, beaches, libraries, walks, soft play and other places of interest. Indoors we will have lots of time for baking, art and crafts, games, stories, free play and much more.

I have Public Liability Insurance and I am a member of the SCMA (Scottish Childminding Association).

  • Before and After school care available
  • Ages 0-16, full or part-time
  • School Holidays available
  • Ad-hoc places also available
  • Available to take Home-educated children with an ad-hoc contract, so if you just require a few hours of care that would be fine.
  • Babysitting services also available

Since I only have pre-school children during school hours, I am available to have up to three school aged children on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (possibly Fridays too) between 9:15 and 14:45.

For childminding I charge £4 per hour (Minimum session is 2 hours)
